In a landmark industry move, the UK's largest consumer exhibition, The British International Motor Show (BIMS) today announces a partnership with another leading event organiser, National Boat Shows (NBS). The coming together of two of the UK's best loved shows will produce a fantastic combination of cars, boats and lifestyle and strengthen the BIMS core values of glamour, style and excitement.
Building on the run-away success of the reinvigorated 2006 British International Motor Show which saw the event move to London after 30 years at the NEC, the move is designed to broaden the appeal of the Show and attract new audiences including families and high net worth individuals.
Enhancing the 2006 on-water entertainment, the new 'Marine Experience' feature will make full use of the waterfront setting at ExCeL. The collection will showcase some of the world's finest, luxury yachts alongside the Heritage Enclosure and Parade Ring. A selection of boats of all shapes and sizes will also be proudly displayed on a purpose built Marina.
Rob Mackenzie, imie managing director, said: "This strategic partnership tie-up is representative of the natural synergy between super cars and luxury boats and we're delighted NBS is onboard for next summer. Boats are the perfect complement to The British International Motor Show and ExCeL London's waterfront setting provides the ideal backdrop,"
Andrew Williams, Managing Director for National Boat Shows comments: "This is a great opportunity for the marine industry to showcase itself in an amazing on-water location at a great time of the year, bringing boating to a whole new audience. It is also at a perfect time to promote our Southampton and London Shows which follow soon afterwards.
"Support from key members of the marine industry has been extremely positive and we will be working hard to deliver another outstanding marine showcase in the UK." The British International Motor Show is the UK's largest consumer show by over 100,000 visitors and has won five prestigious industry awards: Exhibition of the Year, Best Marketing Campaign and Best Automotive Exhibition at the Event Awards, and Most Effective Marketing Campaign and Most Impressive Visitor Experience at the Exhibition News Awards.
After the success of 2006, the show promises to be spectacular day out with even more global vehicle launches, more interactive entertainment and more fun than ever.
