International Motor Industry Events (imie), organiser of the British International Motor Show, has appointed Seventy Seven PR and specialist automotive agency PFPR to promote the Show - UK's largest consumer exhibition - which opens at ExCeL London on 23 July 2008. The agencies are tasked with helping to attract over 550,000 visitors to the 12-day motoring celebration, representing a 33 per cent increase on 2006 ticket sales.
Seventy Seven has been retained to fulfil the lifestyle PR brief in a non-competitive pitch, after success in 2006 moving the reinvigorated show from Birmingham to London. Seventy Seven's remit is to secure coverage outside of the motoring press, ensuring show news reaches everyone from petrolheads to families alike and includes a focus on industry environmental messaging. The team consists of Alan Twigg, Michelle Saxby, Paul Johnson, Isabel Shirley and Nicki Ackers.
Following a three-way pitch, PFPR has been appointed to secure coverage in specialist automotive media in the UK and to secure 35% international press attendance. The UK's leading agency for motoring PR, PFPR will work with exhibiting vehicle manufacturers, many of whom are existing clients of the Kent-based agency, to ensure that all Show news is effectively communicated to the world's motoring media. The account team is led by Peter Cox and David Fitzpatrick.
Kirsty Perkinson, imie marketing director said, "We're delighted to work with Seventy Seven PR again. With the appointment of PFPR to fulfil the specialist motoring PR brief, we are confident that the right team is in place to deliver a comprehensive PR programme for the 2008 show."
The two agencies will work closely together as well as working seamlessly with the SMMT press office. imie will also be looking to appoint a broadcast agency in the new year.
The British International Motor Show runs from 22 July to 3 August 2008 at ExCeL London. After the success of 2006, the show promises to be another spectacular day out with even more global vehicle launches, more interactive entertainment and more fun than ever.
